Cataouatche trip

Put in at Pier 90 launch around 7:30 today, ran out to the lake looking for bass. We ended up trying several of the canals and bayous leaving the lake in search of the right water. Tried every kind of water out there, muddy, brownish stained, black, and mixing. Water level was real low, slight outgoing tide in places. I think I threw just about every kind of bait in my box with no luck at all, two bumps all day. My buddy did catch two bass 7 inches long and two red fish, 16 1/4 and 26 inches on a small crank bait. It was a disappointing day, it just looked so dead with almost no movement on the water. Wind was 10 to 15 mph and rough in the lake.
I wonder when things will pick up out there. It seems the last 2 years has been bad, or is it just me.
A bad day fishing is better than good day at work!

Sorry to hear that.

I haven't been happy in the lake it's self for the past few years myself. Since the grass died off, it's been kinda dead. I tend to concentrate on the bayous. If I had gotten to go today, I was going to try the Louisiana Cypress Canal and in the Tank Pond.

A friend of mine said he heard they were catching a decent amount of perch and a few Sac a Lait back of the old Westwego Dump canals (off Bayou Segnette) a few days ago.

We are having our yearly, week long fishing trip/camp excursion  in a few weeks. I plan on being out there for 5 straight days. Today was supposed to be a scouting trip. I'll see how it goes.
May the fleas of a thousand camels infest the hind end of poachers and may their arms be too short to scratch!!
