Just a reminder:
Jefferson Parish is preparing for its 20th Annual Christmas Tree Marsh Restoration Project. All residents of unincorporated Jefferson Parish and Lafitte are asked to place their tree curbside on the evening of January 6th for collection on January 7, 8, and 9, 2010.
Also: Volunteers with shallow draft boats are needed to place Christmas trees into pre-constructed shoreline fences in Goose Bayou, near the town of Jean Lafitte on the following Saturdays:
January 9, 2010* January 16, 2010* January 23, 2010* January 30, 2010*

This is great. I am interested in knowing when any planting will happen. I'd love to help out. I am hoping to get in touch with folks who live, work and play on bayou segnette. I have been asked to write a watershed plan for this area by the Department of Environmental Quality. I can't do this alone and I need all the help I can get. Give me a call or send me an e-mail. Thanks for the site!

This is a nice website. We need to expand the traffic. I often receive inquiries from groups wanting to know how to reach the Bayou Segnette Community and have directed them to this site.
Jefferson Parish has rec'd a grant to plant close to 4000 cypress trees along Bayou Segnette. This planting event will be later this fall or in early spring. I'll post specifics as soon as they are available. Camp owners can get trees for their yards too.

Thank you for putting up this website. Do non residents who pay the dues to the state of la have any say in the gated areas. if so i believe all waterways state and federal should be open to the public who pay their dues or is the state of la giveing certian rights to certian poeple. Do they just want the 90 dollars a year. i would like to know. i do enjoy the idea of giving so the waterways are taken care of and poachers are kept out and fish habitat are protected. thank you let me know if i am right or wrong.

ya doin' good Merv. I didn't realize Wisner had posted canals in the area. If you give me an exact location I will call their office and question them about it. I know they don't allow hunting on any of their properties but I don't agree with closing off access to canals with gates.
