The
Davis Pond Freshwater Diversion was designed to decrease saltwater
intrusion into the marshes of our area, but it has also resulted in an
explosion of Hydrilla in Lake Cataouatche. As seen in the
photo to the right, there is a one lane passage leading across the lake. The
Louisiana Dept. of Wildlife and Fisheries had contractors spray 22
miles of 60-foot wide passages with a contact herbicide called Aquathol-K
to clear passages for boaters.
