I have in the past unhooked them. I just don't really care to do it. The paddle is a good idea. As long as that barb under the tail doesn't get you, you are good to go.

But.... and a big but... If that sucka gets ya... I hear a prick from a catfish has nothing on the pain these things can bring upon you. I hope I never find out from experience.

I caught one once and the guy I had with me freaked out. I took the boat paddle and held that sucker down on the side of the boat and unhooked it. Never let it in the boat. Then he give me a good lecture about how dangerous they are. Guess I was lucky.

All I can say is OUCH! Most of the time, I cut the line. Accidents happen real fast.

Congrats on the cats ! Gotta watch those sting rays ! One stuck me in my forearm trying to get it off of a trot line . I think the can actually aim that barb because he got me good , atleast 4 inches went in my arm . Surprisingly it didn't hurt for about an hour , I was trying to finish up running my lines . After about an hour my whole shoulder started aching really bad and made me nervous so I called my wife and told her what happened and I was coming home .

When I got home my wife had a hot hot bath with ebson salt waiting for me . When I got into the tub and dipped my arm under the water the pain stopped immidiately , it was crazy . My wife had looked it up online before I made it home and the hot water kills all the sting rays poison .

I never went to the dr but have a nice lil round reminder (scar) that the sting ray left on me , about a 1 inch round one ! Lol I have a new found respect for them now and I'm a lot more careful hand eking them when I do come into contact with them .

Forum Information, FAQ's and Request / Weather conditions on reports

Just added a feature/menu that will allow us to add weather conditions to a post. This will appear on the first post in all the reporting boards. (Any board labeled for "reports")

If you don't have information for a particular item, such as air temperature, you can just leave it blank.

I have also added it to the test board so we can play with it. It can use some testing to make sure it doesn't cause any errors. Try it out and let me know what you all think. I think it will be a cool addition.

thanks I need all the help I can get ,just godda rember to use it.
I have added a feature that will allow you to upload images up to approx. 2 mb in size but will at the same time reduce the file size down to conserve server space.

You may notice that some post have been edited. For some reason, the forum doesn't like images wider or taller than something around 1500 px with this new feature, there fore I had to reduce the size of these images manually.

In rare cases, you may have an image that is below the actual size limit allowed, but exceeds the width or height limitations. If this happens, you can try using the tool at the link in the first post of this thread. I'm trying this to prevent having to delete older attachments in the future.

Adding this feature has reduced the attachments directory by 70% which will come in handy as we get many attachments on the board in the future.

Here is another update, via email from Office of State Parks.

Mr. Graves,

Thank you for your inquiry regarding the cabins at Bayou Segnette State Park. The design documents have been complete, and we are currently in the bid process for the actual construction work. That process should be complete within the next few weeks, with construction anticipated to begin by the end of 2014. Your support of Louisiana State Parks is appreciated.
