News and Information / Bonnabel Boat Launch Closure
« Last post by WestwegoMan on Oct 06, 2015, 5:14 PM »
From Jefferson Parish:

The Bonnabel Boat Launch located at 1599 Bonnabel Boulevard in Metairie will temporarily close starting Tuesday, October 13, 2015.  Repairs and construction to the boat ramps will begin after the installation of temporary fencing around the construction site on Wednesday, October 14, 2015.

Jefferson Parish was selected by the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries to receive a $350,000 grant through Wallop-Breaux funds.   Ashley Savarino Unlimited Construction, LLC, was awarded the contract at the September 23, 2015, Council meeting as the responsible low bid of $577,219.

Construction will involve the installation of sheet pilings for a temporary dam, pumping out water within the ramp area, and removing existing concrete ramps.  The four back-down ramps will be replaced and lengthened to the ends of the existing piers, a curb will be built and Rip Rap will be placed behind the curb at the boat launch.  The angle of the new ramps will change slightly to allow boats to lift off trailers more easily. The small courtesy dock on the eastside will be repaired and existing timbers on all sides will be replaced.
Repairs are estimated to be completed in approximately 120 days, barring any contractor delay and weather permitting.

For more information about the Bonnabel Boat Launch project, please contact the Jefferson Parish Department of Parks and Recreation at 504-736-6984.

Cool. That wind had to be something to work with. Looks like a nice mess of fish there.

Glad y'all got a chance to get at em.

Put in at Joe's landing and was on our way at 6:30 am. Ran out to the wall on Bayou Perot for some bass action on a hot tip my fishing partner had heard. Knew it was going to be tough when we saw how hard the wind was at the landing. We moved around all day hunting protected areas. In no time the wind gust were 17-18 mph with white caps. we managed one here and there but really had to work for them. First few were caught on billed cranks in baby bass, right against the hydrilla in some cuts. Next we moved out into open water and fished the grass beds with lipless cranks, silver/red and silver/blue. Started picking up one here and there but scattered. Also caught 3 reds and a speck. Picked up and headed home at 3:00pm, tired and wind burnt.
Ended the day with 17 bass and 1 speck.
Throw backs...3 reds...4 bass

That would work. My brother in law built one a couple of years ago. We built it out of stainless steel and has wheel. The problem is that its in Colorado and I don't want to make a trip with a trailer to pick it up. The one we built is similar to this one (see link) but without the fancy handles. We roast pigs for the holiday as a family tradition.

  Chinese box.

Are you talking about a cajun microwave? I don't know anything about renting them but I have thought about building one.

I'm looking to rent a Cajun box AKA Chinese box  to roast a pig.  Does anyone know if these can be rented locally? Thank you.

Clarence said that he heard it may be on by Wednesday. At least I think that's what he said.
