Fishing the Bayou Jean Lafitte area

I am a native of New Orleans, and have been in school up in Arkansas. I used to fish the twin canals area of Bayou Jean Lafitte from my kayak, with mixed results.  I'm headed home next week, and was wondering if anyone on here has been fishing this area recently. If not, I'm sure reports on tactics used nearby would be helpful. I used to target Bass, Sacalait, and Choupique, so any tips y'all have for any of those species would be great.  If it helps, this area is small man made canals, mixed marsh and swamp, with plenty of snags and structure since Katrina. Thanks in advance, Who Dat.

Welcome to the forum,

I usually dont do as good this time of year but night crawlers would probably be your best bet for perch and such. As for bass, I havent been fishing them as hard lately. I like to chase the reds this time of year but with the weather and work lately, that hasnt been happening. Hopefully next week.

Let me know how you do.
May the fleas of a thousand camels infest the hind end of poachers and may their arms be too short to scratch!!
